So, my locs have finally reached a length that I adore! I can tie them back with themselves, they actually look like locs even though my 'new growth' is probably at about two inches, they blow in the wind, and fall down instead of sticking up. It's pretty dope for two years, in my opinion.
I'm also increasingly glad that I went the freeform/semifreeform route because I'm in this transition phase in my life and I suddenly find that my hair is such a strong reflection of who I am. It's as though a spiritual bond just sprang up between my hair and my self.
Upon that, I went to see the documentary 'Marley' and there was so much in there about spirituality as linked to locs, I swear it rubbed off on me some! I still get people asking about me twisting my roots, and a friend actually sat me down and twisted it themselves because it bothered them, but I'm finding that having them loose is actually quite fine with me. I'm aware it looks messy and unkempt to some, but then again, natural hair looks messy and unkempt to others, so what have you...
I'm loving this new affection and connection with my hair, there's a specialness to having locs like these that is resonating through me. Poofy is a happy happy camper.

I dig!
Love this post. I saw Marley as well and it was a great documentary for many reasons.
I just stumbled upon something I feel I need to share with you girls. This woman wants to make a coloring book involving a character with natural hair. It looks lovely. Apparently she needs some help to make this project happen, maybe you girls can spread the word? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/missgee/the-miss-zee-coloring-book-project
Honey, I've been carrying locing for about 8 months and my locs look wayyyyy better than this, even though they're short. I think you should take better care of your hair, they're just screaming "I NEED HELP!!!", they do look unkempt, even though I admire your spirituality, freespiritedness and what-nots, I still think you should do something about them. Happy locing dredzsis
P.S.
You DEFINITELY aren't working in the corporate world if your hair looks like this, someone would have served you a query tey tey :d.
@ CFC, thanks love!!
@Aisha, :)))))
@Lize, thanks for the heads up! Will def check it out and signal boost if we're not too late :)
@Jo, you must be new here.
Your hair is dope! I'm semi freeforming also & I absolutely love the idea of just letting your hair do its thing to reflect its true character. Its very motivational thanks for sharing.
I love your locs!
Hey! I'm looking to start my locs myself and I love the size you made yours. How did you get them that big? It seems like all the tutorials lead to a really think loc and I want them to be big and beautiful.
Thanks!
