This is no different than it was for Black women in America. We had to have straight hair because we were lead and taught to believe it was more of an enhancement than our own natural hair.

What I think needs to be stressed about chemically relaxing hair and adding weave tracks is the potential to have serious damage issues arise.

There is an irony to this situation because natural hair is becoming very popular again in the U.S.

I went natural in the Sixties (Yes, I am a mature woman). It was a style that was meant to be a political/cultural statement about our unique beauty. But there was not a vast amount of style options or care products. Now, there are options that we can utilize.
