We had to have straight hair because we were lead and taught to believe it was more of an enhancement than our own natural hair.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What I think needs to be stressed about chemically relaxing hair and adding weave tracks is the potential to have serious damage issues arise.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is an irony to this situation because natural hair is becoming very popular again in the U.S. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I went natural in the Sixties (Yes, I am a mature woman). It was a style that was meant to be a political/cultural statement about our unique beauty. But there was not a vast amount of style options or care products.
